John Pierce was born in 1771. John Pierce's father was Robert Lawson and his mother was Sarah Meriwether Pierce. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Lawson and Elizabeth Claiborne; his maternal grandparents were John Pierce and Sarah ?. He had a brother and three sisters, named Columbus, Sarah Merriwether, America and Arria. He was the second oldest of the five children.-
