Arria was born on March 14th, 1785. Arria's father was Robert Lawson and her mother was Sarah Meriwether Pierce. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Lawson and Elizabeth Claiborne; her maternal grandparents were John Pierce and Sarah ?. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John Pierce, Columbus, Sarah Merriwether and America. She was the second youngest of the five children.-
