Sarah Butler was born on January 4th, 1780. Sarah Butler's father was Patrick Henry and her mother was Dorothea Dandridge. Her paternal grandparents were John Henry and Sarah Winston; her maternal grandparents were Nathaniel West Dandridge and Dorothea Spotswood. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Patrick, Nathaniel West, George Lafayette, Alexander Spotswood, Richard, Edward Winston, John, Dorothea Spotswood, Martha Catherine and Jane Robertson. She was the second oldest of the eleven children. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John, William, Edward, Martha, Anne and Elizabeth.-
