Mary Ann was born in 1855. Mary Ann's father was J. W. Daniel and her mother was Mary Ann Butler. Her maternal grandparents were Christopher Butler and Mehala Cole. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas C., J. W., Marion L., Patrick B., Joel, Nancy E., Mahala R., Agnus and Susanah. She was the third youngest of the ten children.-
