Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Carr and Mary Dabney; her maternal grandparents were James Overton and Elizabeth Truehart. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named James, James, Dabney, John, Overton, John, Garland, John, Samuel, Mary and Sarah. She had a half-brother named Thomas.-
