John was born on December 26th, 1706 in Caroline Co., VA. John's father was Thomas Carr and his mother was Mary Dabney. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Carr and Mary Garland?. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Sarah and Agnes Mary. He died at the age of 71 on June 17th, 1778 in "Bear Castle", Louisa Co., VA.
