James M. was born in 1811 in Elbert Co., GA. James M.'s father was Christopher Butler and his mother was Mehala Cole. His paternal grandparents were James McGehee Butler and Sarah Christopher. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Milton P., Russell B., Joel, Patrick, Lafayette C., Jasper, Thomas, Mary Ann and Sarah. He died at the age of 44 on November 10th, 1855 in Shelby Co., AL.-
