Elvira was born about 1847. Elvira's father was Rowland Blankenship and her mother was Martha Butler. Her paternal grandparents were Archibald Blankenship and Prudence Conday. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Edward Levi, Leslie Combs, Charles T., Mary P., Anna and Sarah Elizabeth. She was the youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named John Archer.-
