Rasmus was born in 1763 in hunskår i Breim.  Rasmus' father was Jorgen Borgeson and his mother was Anne Rasmusdotter.  His paternal grandparents were Borge Anderson and Gullbjorg Jorgensdotter. He had six sisters named Sofie, Sofie, Marte, Gullbjorg, Berte and Johanne.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 62 on April 9th, 1825 in hunskår i Breim.
