Her paternal grandparents were Rogier Bernhadus van Blerk and Hilletjie Giebelaar (van Blerk). She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Johannes Everhadus, Hendrik Everhadus, Fredrik Andries Georg, Marthinus Samuel, Bastiaan Pieter Everhadus, Alida Johanna, Louisa Carolina, Hester Petronella George, Carolina Hester, Orgina Johanna, Johanna Scheubelina and Keetjie Wilhelmina.
