In 1794 Rogier Bernardus van Blerk's minor son Marthinus Samuel van Blerk applied for a loan on the farm De Hoop in Table Valley from Pieter Hendrick Faure.

1789 Rosier Bernardus van Blerk sergeant in the Battalion in the Government service; became, more than a year ago, subject to fits and convulsions, which often incapacitated him from properly performing his duties. Moreover, a few months ago his left arm became so paralyzed that he has never recovered its use, so that he asks for his discharge, and to be permitted to return to his former condition of Free Citizen (Vryburger).

Birth Notes
Like most van Blerks, the story of a family member that married a dark skinned girl, was ostracised by the family, was forced to pace a ‘c’ in his surname and was given land on the other side of the mountain, was told to many.
I think Basina was an extraordinary woman and the Basina/Rogier family and extraordinary family. According to record she was born in 1773 and her occupation was that of a washerwoman. She was given the surname of van de Kaap as she was a slave and she stayed and worked at 51 Waterkant Street, in the Cape Colony. On Jan 2 1801 she gave birth to their first daughter Alida Johanna van Blerk at the age of 28. Basina was christened on Mar 7 1812 age 39 in the Swartland. It is possibility here that she adopted the names Martha and Dorothea.
In 1818 she was declared a Free Citizen by the Cape Court at the age of 45 and the family migrated south where they married in George on Sep 24 1821. Basina was 48 years old their love had lasted a long time but it was also at this stage that she gave birth to their last and thirteenth child Bastiaan Pieter Everhadus van Blerk. The family then moved to and farmed in the Colesberg area. She died Jul 1 1839 age 66.

Anna Margaretha was born on October 27th, 1763. She died at the age of 71 on August 26th, 1835.
Nicolaas van Blerk
Nicolaas was born on May 26th, 1765. He died at the age of 6 on December 18th, 1771.
Johannes Philippus van Blerk
Johannes Philippus was born on November 30th, 1766. He died at the age of 51 in 1817. He was buried at the Family vault in Somerset Road Cemetery, Cape Town, Cape.
Rogier Bernhadus van Blerk
Rogier Bernhadus was born on June 25th, 1769.
Geesje Catharina van Blerk
Geesje Catharina was born on October 21st, 1770 in Cape Town. She died at 6 months old on April 29th, 1771.
Catharina Johanna van Blerk (Fough)
Catharina Johanna was born on May 31st, 1772. She died at the age of 49 on March 23rd, 1822. She was buried at the the farm of Pieter Gerhard v d Bijl in Klapmuts, Cape.
Maria Elizabeth van Blerk
Maria Elizabeth was born on February 13th, 1774. She died at the age of 4 in 1778.
Marthinus van Blerk
Marthinus was born on February 16th, 1777. He died at the age of 56 on August 18th, 1833. He was buried at the Family vault in Somerset Road Cemetery, Cape Town, Cape.
Elizabeth Johanna van Blerk (Basterd)
Elizabeth Johanna was born on July 27th, 1783. She died at the age of 47 on October 17th, 1830. She was buried at the their farm in Klapmuts, Cape.
Maria Margaretha van Blerk
Maria Margaretha was born on January 8th, 1786. She died at the age of 19 on October 24th, 1805.
