Francois was born on February 27th, 1752 in Cape Town.  Francois' father was Nicolaas van Blerk and his mother was Catharina Maria Magetski.  His maternal grandparents were Bernhardus Magetski and Catharina Maria Driessen. He had three brothers and a sister, named Rogier Bernhadus, Nicholas Jacobus, Simon Petrus and Catharina Cornelia.  He was the youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Jan Barend.  He died at the age of 38 on April 6th, 1790 in Stellenbosch.  He was buried at the Buried: 09 Apr 1790, op de kerkhof Stellenbosch.
