Catharina Cornelia was born in 1748 in Cape Town.  Catharina Cornelia's father was Nicolaas van Blerk and her mother was Catharina Maria Magetski.  Her maternal grandparents were Bernhardus Magetski and Catharina Maria Driessen. She had four brothers named Rogier Bernhadus, Nicholas Jacobus, Simon Petrus and Francois.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had a half-brother named Jan Barend.  She died at the age of 79 in 1827.
