George Goodwin Carpenter 
George Goodwin was born on May 4th, 1888. George Goodwin's father was Major Robert Carpenter and his mother was Louisa Catherina Gaberlina van Blerk (Carpenter). His paternal grandparents were Robert Carpenter and Eliza Poick (Carpenter); his maternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Mathilda Amelia Allsop (van Blerk). He had five brothers and three sisters, named Archibald Robert, Ronald William, Albert Edward, Ernest Edward, David Reid, Margaretha Matilda, Amelia Eliza and Beatrice. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 76 on June 28th, 1964.-
