Sgt Albert Edward Carpenter 
Albert Edward was born on July 13th, 1889. Albert Edward's father was Major Robert Carpenter and his mother was Louisa Catherina Gaberlina van Blerk (Carpenter). His paternal grandparents were Robert Carpenter and Eliza Poick (Carpenter); his maternal grandparents were Simon Petrus van Blerk and Mathilda Amelia Allsop (van Blerk). He had five brothers and three sisters, named Archibald Robert, Ronald William, George Goodwin, Ernest Edward, David Reid, Margaretha Matilda, Amelia Eliza and Beatrice. He was the third youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 51 on December 19th, 1940.-
