Robert was born on January 12th, 1850 in Gloucestershire, England. Robert's father was Robert Carpenter and his mother was Eliza Poick (Carpenter). He was an only child. He died at the age of 82 on February 12th, 1932 in Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand.General Notes
Married on the 17 April 1876 in Simon's Town, Cape Town. The couple left for England but sailed for New Zealand in 1895.
They had six sons and three daughters, named Archibald Robert, Ronald William, George Goodwin, Albert Edward, Ernest Edward, David Reid, Margaretha Matilda, Amelia Eliza and Beatrice.
