John David was born in 1851 in Marden, Kent.  John David's father was David STANLEY and his mother was Frances BOXELL.  His paternal grandparents were David STANLEY and Ann LAMBERT; his maternal grandparents were John BOXALL and Sarah. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Charles, Sarah Anne, Harriett and George.
