John Walter was born in 1831 in East Peckham, Kent, England.  John Walter's father was John MARTIN and his mother was Mary.  His paternal grandparents were John MARTIN and Ann SIMMONDS. He had a brother and two sisters, named Henry, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 76 in 1907 in Malling District.
