John was born in 1805 in East Peckham, Kent, England.  John's father was John MARTIN and his mother was Ann SIMMONDS. He had two brothers named Thomas and William.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 70 in December 1875.  He was buried on December 12th, 1875 in Holy Trinity, East Peckham.
