Henry was born in 1833 in East Peckham, Kent, England.  Henry's father was John MARTIN and his mother was Mary.  His paternal grandparents were John MARTIN and Ann SIMMONDS. He had a brother and two sisters, named John Walter, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
