Robert was born in 1759 in Egerton, Kent.  Robert's father was John DENCE and his mother was Ann PETIT.  His paternal grandparents were John DENCE and Elisabeth LEWIS; his maternal grandparents were John PETIT and Sarah RANSLEY. He had two brothers and a sister, named Lewis, John and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1827 in Teynham, Kent.  He was buried on May 20th, 1827 in Teynham, Kent.
