John was born on December 5th, 1752 in Egerton, UK.  John's father was John DENCE and his mother was Ann PETIT.  His paternal grandparents were John DENCE and Elisabeth LEWIS; his maternal grandparents were John PETIT and Sarah RANSLEY. He had two brothers and a sister, named Lewis, Robert and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1820 in Lynsted, Kent.  He was buried on January 23rd, 1820 in Lynsted, Kent.
