Henry was born in 1853 in Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire.  Henry's father was George BURDEN and his mother was Hannah WHITE.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph WHITE and Alice GARDNER. He had four brothers and six sisters, named George, Walter, Arthur, Frank, Elizabeth, Emily, Hannah Maria, Agnes, Phillis and Rose Ellen.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.
