John was born in 1815 in Boughton Monchelsea, UK.  John's father was George BOULDEN and his mother was Sarah STANLEY.  His paternal grandparents were David BOULDEN and Sarah STANLEY; his maternal grandparents were Zebulon STANLEY and Ann SHAW. He had four brothers and a sister, named George Tong, David, William, Stephen Stanley and Harriet.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 74 in June 1889 in Marden, Kent.  He was buried on June 24th, 1889 in Marden, Kent.
