Harriet was born in 1813 in Boughton Monchelsea, UK.  Harriet's father was George BOULDEN and her mother was Sarah STANLEY.  Her paternal grandparents were David BOULDEN and Sarah STANLEY; her maternal grandparents were Zebulon STANLEY and Ann SHAW. She had five brothers named George Tong, John, David, William and Stephen Stanley.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
