Bird Lafayette Gammon

Bird Lafayette was born on November 10th, 1859 in Leon, Decatur, Iowa, United States.¹ Bird Lafayette's father was James Wilkenson Gammon and his mother was Armilda Eliza Myers. His paternal grandparents were Dozier Brawner Gammon and Lavina Letitia Turbeville; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Myers and Jane. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Lewis Larue, Newton Franklin, Eugene Theophilus, Willis Wilkerson, Dozier Gaines, Charles Thomas, Lucius, Lydia Josephine, Martha Jane and Catharine Melvina. He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 77 on February 23rd, 1937.
