Hendrika was born on April 8th, 1884 in Iowa.1   Hendrika's father was Jacob Monster and her mother was Adriana Jana Klyn.  Her paternal grandfather was Leendert Monster and her paternal grandmother is Lena Kamp; her maternal grandparents were Arie Ariese Klyn and Neeltje Klein. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Leendert, Leendert J, Lane, Arie, William, Neetje (Nell), Lena, Margaret and Janna Jeannette.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 21 on April 10th, 1905.
