Jacob was born on November 9th, 1785 in , Strijen, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.  Jacob's father was Pieter Janszoon MONSTER and his mother was Maria Jansdochter FORTUIJN.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Jacobsz Monster and Lena Pietersd Van Der Linden. He had a brother and two sisters, named Jan Pietersz, Hendriksje Pietersd and Maria Pietersd.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 40 on March 20th, 1826 in , Strijen, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.
