Samuel was born in year 1717 in Suffolk, Whatfield and was baptised on February 6th, 1717. Samuel's father was William Coufsins and his mother was Lydia. His paternal grandparents were William Coufsins and Elizabeth Angier; his. He was the fifth of eight children.
