William was born in year 1878 in Camberwell. William's father was Thomas Langdon Whitaker and his mother was Margaret Maria Smith. His paternal grandparents were George Whitaker and Mary Ann King; his. He was the third of six children. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Albert, Marion, Helen and Rose. He had two half-brothers named Thomas and Henry. He died, at the age of 93 years, on November 4th, 1971 in Wangaratta Australia.
