John, known as John, was born on November 27th, 1877.1   John's father was Hugh BOYD and his mother was Elizabeth ALLISON.  His paternal grandparents are Robert BOYD and <Unknown>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named William, Robert, James, Joseph, Garfield, Samuel, Edgar and Kate.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
