James Thornton

James was born in 1861 in Barnoldswick, Yorkshire, England.¹ James' father was James Thornton and his mother was Ellen Hartley. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Thornton and Agnes (Thornton). He had three brothers and three sisters, named Dick, Alfred, Charles, Mary, Emma and Laviena. He was the second oldest of the seven children.
