Charlie Thornton

Charlie was born in June 1892 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.¹ Charlie's father was Peter Thornton and his mother was Kate. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Thornton and Mary Ann Fortune; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Newiss and Ann Hartley. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Herbert, Edward, Annie Elizabeth, Ella, Ethel and Doris. He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.
