Mary Ann Petty

Mary Ann was born in 1836 in Hensall, Yorkshire, England.¹ Mary Ann's father was John Petty and her mother was Elizabeth Hirst. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Pettyt and Anne (Nancy) Benson. She had five brothers and three sisters, named John William, Henry, George, William, James, Elizabeth Phoebe, Elizabeth and Eleanor. She was the eighth oldest of the nine children.
