Arthur Wesley Petty

Arthur Wesley was born on March 15th, 1890 in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England.¹ Arthur Wesley's father was Wesley Petty and his mother was Frances Elizabeth Harrison. His paternal grandparents were John William Petty and Sarah Stephenson. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named John Harrison, William Edward, Ernest Routledge, Charles Edgar, Wilfred S, Frank, Edward Harold, Nellie, Edith, Frances Mary, Christina Alice and Katharine Elizabeth. He was the twelfth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 28 on February 5th, 1919 in West Park, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

  February 5th (after a long illness patiently borne), aged 28, Arthur Wesle y, youngest son of Wesley and Frances Elizabeth Petty, of West Park, Leeds. Interred at Harrogate Cemetery, on Saturday, February 8th.

  The interment of the youngest son of a recent townsman, Mr Wesley Petty, t ook place in the Harrogate cemetery on Saturday. The funeral ceremony was conducted by the clergy of Bilton Church (the Rev D M Alexandra, vicar, a nd Rev G A Elson, curate), with which church Mr Petty was associated for ov er thirty years. The Mayor of Harrogate (Councillor Fleming) and the Town Cle rk (Mr J Turner Taylor) attended as a mark of respect to an old resident, w ho was a member of the Corporation for some few years before his removal to Leeds in 1916. in addition to numerous members of the family, Capta Barker (son-in-law), Captain Frank Somers, MRCVS (nephew), Mr John Jenning s, of Langcliffe Avenue, and Mr Horace Smith, Lancaster Park, were present. T he funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs D S Ward & Son, Albert Street.
