Elizabeth was born on August 18th, 1851 in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire.  Elizabeth's father was Alexander Linklater and her mother was Mary Campbell.  Her paternal grandparents were John Linkleter and Elizabeth Murray; her maternal grandparents are William Campbell and <Unknown>.  She had two sisters named Barbara and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
