Emily was born in 1848.  Emily's father was Thomas George and her mother was Catherine  Tooth.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard George  and Ann ?. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, James, Alfred, Catherine, Hannah, Maria and Ellen.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
