Joseph was born in July 1835.  Joseph's father was James GILHESPY and his mother was Mary BROWN. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Jacob, Joseph, James, George Brown, Dorothy (Jane?), Mary Ann/Margaret, Ruth, Mary, Mary Ann and Sarah.  He died at the age of 33 in 1868.1
