Joseph was born in February 1834.  Joseph's father was James GILHESPY and his mother was Mary BROWN. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Jacob, Joseph, James, George Brown, Dorothy (Jane?), Mary Ann/Margaret, Ruth, Mary, Mary Ann and Sarah.  He was buried on October 3rd, 1834 in St. Mary the Virgin, Ponteland.1
