John was born on January 27th, 1902 in Missouri.  John's father was August A Gripka and his mother was Martha Bruenn.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Gripka and Mary Daus; his maternal grandparents were August Bruenn and Regina. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, Jerome, Sisbert, Lawrence, Agnes, Frances, Rose, Fridoline, Dorothy, Clara and Ruth.  He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 87 on July 29th, 1989 in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida.1 




John's family

John and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on August 31st, 1935 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri.  They had a son named David.
