Frederick was born on July 16th, 1873 in Dundee, MI.1  Frederick's father was John (JP) Peter Rankin and his mother was Lucy Matida Brown.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Rankin Jr and Rachel Sutherland; his maternal grandparents were George Brown and Electa W Munson. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Ozro, Carlton, Ernest, Cora and Minnie.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 42 on October 15th, 1915 in Youngstown,OH.  He was buried at the Maple Grove Cemetery.2 3

‌Frederick and Ruth were married in a religious ceremony on May 5th, 1895 in Dundee, MI.1   They had three sons named Ted, John and Joseph.
