David was born on March 26th, 1835.1   David's father was Robert Milligan and his mother was Elizabeth Milligan.  His paternal grandparents were John C. Milligan and Margaret Milligan; his maternal grandfather is John MacDougall and his maternal grandmother was Ann MacDougall. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, James Thomas, Samuel, Caleb, William N., Ann, Elizabeth C., Jane, Rebecca and Helen. He had eight half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Nathaniel, John, Nathaniel, Douglas Caven, John Robert, Robert, David, Alexander, Mary and Margaret.  He died at the age of 79 on July 29th, 1914.1
