Mary was born in 1825.  Mary's father was Robert Milligan and her mother was Margaret Milligan.  Her paternal grandparents were John C. Milligan and Margaret Milligan; her maternal grandparents are Nathaniel Caven and Margaret Affleck. She had eight brothers and a sister, named Nathaniel, John, Nathaniel, Douglas Caven, John Robert, Robert, David, Alexander and Margaret. She had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named David, Thomas, James Thomas, Samuel, Caleb, William N., Ann, Elizabeth C., Jane, Rebecca and Helen.  She died at the age of 82 in 1907.
