Tova Elkes

Tova was born in 1920. Tova's father was Moshe Leib Elkes and her mother was Leah Pieniek. Her maternal grandparents were Meyer Moishe Pieniek and Miriam Reizel Berkerowicz. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Yosef, Israel (Srulik), Asher, Shmuel, ?, Naomi, Chana (Chantze), Dvorah and Ziporah. She died in the Holocaust at the age of 20 in 1940 in Bialystok, Poland.¹

  According to another niece, Sarah Shavit, Tova Elkes was born in Polotsk, Belorussia (USSR) to Moshe and Lea. She was a pupil and single. Prior to WWII she lived in Polotsk, Belorussia (USSR). During the war was in Lomza, Poland. Tova perished in 1941 in Lomza, Poland at the age of 15. This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted on 05/11/1998 by her niece, a Shoah survivor.
