Elizabeth was born in 1896 in Cowbridge Lane Barking Essex. Elizabeth's father was George Spelman (K 1212 Rippleside) and her mother was Ada Allmarye Oxley (D 912 BURIED RIPPLESIDE).  Her paternal grandparents were Henry (twine spinner) Spelman (D 1540 Rippleside ) and Mary  Ann Casey (D 1540 Rippleside ); her maternal grandfather was Thomas Hollingum Oxley (Cordwainer) and her maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. She had two brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Arthur and Ada. She had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named George, Edmund, William, Thomas, James, Ethel and Martha.
