George was born in 1868 in Bethnal Green. George's father was Henry (twine spinner) Spelman (D 1540 Rippleside ) and his mother was Mary  Ann Casey (D 1540 Rippleside ).  His paternal grandparents were William (twine spinner) Spelman and Charlotte Nichols; his maternal grandparents were John (Cigar Maker) Casey and Mary Shea. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Henry, William, Emily, Sarah, Ann, Susannah, Ellen and Charlotte.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died about December 1st, 1936 in Barking Essex.  The funeral took place on December 5th, 1936 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.  He was buried on December 5th, 1936 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.1 2
