Thomas was born in 1582 in Eckington, Derbyshire, England.  Thomas' father was William STANIFORTH and his mother was Joane MYCOCKE.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas STANIFORTH and Agnes (UNKNOWN).  He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Godfrey, Henry, John, Robert, Marjorie, Dorothy and Joan.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.
