Thomas was born in 1813 in Armley, Yorkshire, England.  Thomas' father was William REDSHAW and his mother was Sarah DAVISON.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas REDSHAW and Martha BOOTH.  He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, Samuel, Samuel, James, Joseph, William, George, Sarah, Sarah and Mary.  He was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
