James was born in 1807 in Armley, Yorkshire, England.  James' father was William REDSHAW and his mother was Sarah DAVISON.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas REDSHAW and Martha BOOTH.  He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, Samuel, Samuel, Joseph, William, Thomas, George, Sarah, Sarah and Mary.  He was the seventh oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 65 on December 1st, 1872 in Armley, Yorkshire, England.
