Agnes' father was Thomas Robertson and her mother was Elizabeth Armour. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas John Robertson and Elizabeth Jamieson. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, James, Mary, Elizabeth and Agnes. She was the youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 29 in 1891 in Ayr.
